It was just over a year ago now that Wycombe suffered yet another heartbreak in the play-off semi-finals against now-Championship side Charlton Athletic.
After a home leg that was a disappointment, ending 0-0, it was only four days later at The Valley that all Wycombe's hard work that season came to nothing, with an 81st-minute Matt Godden goal ending the Chairboys' hopes of Championship football, if they hadn't already been dashed before that.
Then came the summer, and many had argued that Mike Dodds needed to go, especially after poor performances led to Wanderers dropping from as high as first under Matt Bloomfield to fifth under the former Sunderland coach.
