Football, especially in more recent times, has always been about much more than what happens on the pitch over 90 minutes.

It brings communities, different identities, raw passion, a sense of belonging and togetherness among people from all across the world. From the roars after late winners to the conversations outside the ground with a pint in hand just before kick-off, football is a game in which connections can be made in ways very few other things could.

However, behind the noise and the high stakes and the emotion of the pitch, there can be a very different side to the game that deserves just as much, if not more attention: mental health.
